Pre-proposal support (limited free resources)
Ikaaġun Engagement understands that important decisions are made during the pre-proposal phase, such as:
What is the research question?
Where will the project be located?
Will the project include local and Indigenous partners?
Who will these partners be?
Ikaaġun also recognizes that scientists may have minimal resources during the pre-proposal phase. Early career Arctic scientists also have very limited resources and may need assistance and encouragement to properly engage Indigenous communitites.
Therefore, Ikaaġun Engagement offers limted free services to scientists seeking pre-proposal support and early career advice. If we cannot answer your question, we will at least try to point you in the right direction.
Every Thursday from 9am - 11am Alaska time, join the free Ikaaġun Engagement weekly office hours designed to assist in pre-proposal support and early career advice. Please email email@example.com to sign up for a 15-
Fish Camp immersive experiences
(Coming in 2022)
Ikaaġun Engagement invites scientists, researchers, and educators to take part in immersive cultural experiences, most notably during the summer "fish camps". The Ikaaġun team sets up an outdoor camping experience in rural settings. In addition to learning to collect and process various resources (e.g. berries, birch syrup, fish), participants will have the chance to take part in immersive evening cultural and historical orientations, presentations, and other local culturally-enriching and immersive experiences.
